Good design is the most important aspect of building post and beam homes. Blending heavy timber framing elements into a home plan that meets the needs and style of the owners is something we have been doing for years.
Smart design feels and looks like the timber frame and floor plan were conceived as one. It should fit the site and take advantage of views and exposures. The style should fit the neighborhood and reflect the tastes of the owners. It should be creative but not in a way that it will stress the budget.
Northern Timberworks has custom designed homes and adapted existing plans. We can do more than build 12 foot by 12 foot boxes joined together as one designer thought. We can help Architects or designers to design the post and beam system for their existing plan. Often if we make some simple modifications to a design, we can avoid problems like creating unrealistic spans or so much compound joinery that the frame price would be pushed out of the budget.
Our team consists of two members, Wayne Cripps, the president of NTW, and Rich Formosa, a graduate of our local college and University. He has a degree in biology and completed a CAD engineering course at the college. Wayne puts to work 25 years of construction experience and knowledge gained from designing and building 50 plus timber frame homes. Rich chips in his creativity and expertise on the full 3D version of AutoCAD to give precision and detail to our plans.
Our goals are simple - design homes that we are proud of and that meet the needs of their owners.
